 The
United Church of Christ Congregational in Claremont, for whom we had previously built the
large organ in the main church, has received a new chapel organ with 16 stops. Weddings,
funerals and services are held in the chapel, but the new organ is also suitable for
chamber concerts and can be used as a practice instrument.
The specification was developed by Los Angeles organbuilder, Manuel Rosales, who was the
consultant for the project and oversaw the voicing.
The casework design is the work of our Design Architect, Graham Tristram of Edinburgh.
Only a facade design was required, in keeping with the clients wish to leave the
interior of the chapel otherwise unaltered. Apart from the 8' Principal, which provides
the façade-pipes, and the 8' Trompet en Chamade, especially intended for use in weddings,
all the 1st Manual stops are enclosed in a swell box and can be played from the 2nd manual
by means of alternating sliders. Only the 8' Bourdon and 8' Celeste are played from the
IInd Manual independently.
The organ, our Opus 19, was installed in autumn 2002. The voicing was carried out by
Eberhard Hilse of Germany. |
